Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for elevator drives are no longer a rarity, but it’s a necessity.
In addition to the smooth running of the elevator and its precise positioning in case of shutoff on floors, elevator frequency operators demand higher standards of safety requirements.
Triol Corporation is a manufacturer of low-voltage and high-voltage equipment for frequency control of electric drives. Triol AT24 VFDs LE line are intended for elevator applications. It is a specially designed solution to ensure the safe and reliable operation of elevator equipment.
The AT24 LE frequency drive has a number of functional features:
1) Continuous monitoring of the integrity of the lead wires and motor windings ensures a safe trip
The control system continuously monitors the currents and will go into emergency mode as soon as possible when a load break is detected in any of the phases. This function only works if there is an uninterruptible power supply in the elevator control station. In case of network breakage, the control station transmits a discrete signal about the transition to the "evacuation" mode (it is also work from the uninterruptible power system (UPS)). In this mode, Triol AT24 LE can operate from a UPS single-phase, while the frequency converter's algorithm determines the optimal direction of the carol`s movement and takes it out to the nearest floor.
2) Check the connected braking resistor before every start
The Triol AT24 LE software performs a physical checking of the braking resistor readiness at the beginning of each carol “trip” (checking lasts in 0.5 seconds), and will prevent the start of movement in case of its absence or breakage, generating an alarm displayed on the console screen.
3) Fast torque tripping
Triol AT24 LE has an additional discrete input for direct blocking of the IGBT power module for fast torque tripping. Due to the direct impact on the power switch unit, the current flow is cut off in less than 10 μs, which will ensure the disconnection of the main contactor without an arc and preserve its long-term operation.
4) Communication control of the connected encoder
In Triol AT24 LE you can enable / disable encoder breakage function. In case of enabled function, after starting the frequency drive, the algorithm expects an output of 0.5 Hz in frequency and begins to "wait" for a signal from the encoder. If after 1.5 seconds there is no signal, then VFD generates the "Break" alarm and stops.
In addition, Triol AT24 LE line has advanced functionality for all types of modern elevators. The AT24 LE line frequency drives control synchronous and asynchronous motors, geared and gearless hoisting winches with a power of 5.5 kW to 37 kW and a voltage of 380 V.
